Google Analytics get a new look

Today, Google has announced their new version of Google Analytics’ reporting interface. All the old users will automatically be transfered to the new version. However, users can still access the old interface if they want to.

I have to say, the new version is much better and finally, I can zoom the map and see where are the people from. The graphs have also gotten bigger and easier to see. This new interface is very web2.0-ish.

*What is new?* In the new version, your reports have been
redesigned for clarity, greater visibility of important metrics,
and ease of use. Here are just a few of the features you’ll
notice:

- Email and export reports: Schedule or send ad-hoc
personalized report emails and export reports in PDF format.

- Custom Dashboard: No more digging through reports. Put all
the information you need on a custom dashboard that you can
email to others.

- Trend and Over-time Graph: Compare time periods and select
date ranges without losing sight of long term trends.

- Contextual help tips: Context sensitive Help and Conversion
University tips are available from every report.

Fly Through Clouds In Your Browser

Ok, this is quite hard to explain. Just go there yourself and fly through the clouds.

Did you mean he invented

When you search “she invented” google will correct your spelling and say Did you mean “he invented”?

http://www.google.com/search?&hl=en&q=%22she+invented%22&btnG=Google+Search

What with this? I guess too many “he” invented instead of “she”.

BBC Broadcast HD-DVD key

What are they going to do with them now?

Watch the stream.

Update: To the Digg rebellion

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6615047.stm

Digg’s rebellion is now on the front page of BBC News! What is the HD-DVD ‘people’ going to do now?

Fight on, Digg!

When I was on digg today, the fist thing that I saw what that latest announcement saying “You’ve spoken and we’ve heard you – update on our HD-DVD stance.”
With so many stories about the hacked HD-Dvd key posted on digg (currently, the top 5 in the top 7 days is about HD-DVD key or DRM), it is impossible to remove them, so instead, they now want to fight on.

The founder of Digg, Kevin Rose posted today,

“Today was an insane day. And as the founder of Digg, I just wanted to post my thoughts…”
Well, we know that, he must have been making thousands of calls with the HD-DVD guys because they sponsor his show.

“In building and shaping the site I’ve always tried to stay as hands on as possible. We’ve always given site moderation (digging/burying) power to the community. Occasionally we step in to remove stories that violate our terms of use (eg. linking to pornography, illegal downloads, racial hate sites, etc.). So today was a difficult day for us. We had to decide whether to remove stories containing a single code based on a cease and desist declaration. We had to make a call, and in our desire to avoid a scenario where Digg would be interrupted or shut down, we decided to comply and remove the stories with the code.”
I totally agree to this because as a system admin, I had to delete stories and bad things on my forum.

“But now, after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be.”
Nothing else to say, freedom of speech is the way to go. Now people will love digg more than ever.

At last he said,
“If we lose, then what the hell, at least we died trying.”
Digg won’t die. At least we hope not.
