Finally, Google’s “PowerPoint” Confirmed

So I think the title is pretty self explainatory. As many people know about the Google online office suit, they are coming out with the “PowerPoint” and finally finishing the suit. Google has acquired Tonic Systems, a San Francisco-based company that provides Java presentation automation products and solutions for document management, especially to power their presentation app. The launch of this Google “PowerPoint” is aimed at the summer of 07.
So people will argue that this may be a thread to the MS Office suit. Well, trust me, it is not and I don’t see companies starting to jump to the online web apps right away. MS Excel is way more powerful than the Google spreadsheet and for now, I only see Google aiming for the simplicity and portability.
Quote from their blog:
“…We’ll soon be welcoming a new addition to the Google Docs & Spreadsheets family: presentations…”

A picture of what we have now.
